Dr. Brenner is currently leading multiple research projects to examine the impact of recreational and physical activity in the prevention of lung cancer. We have recently completed a meta-analysis of physical activity and lung cancer risk, with a particular focus on the role of physical activity among never smoking lung cancer cases.
Dr. Brenner has established international collaboration to pool together prospectively collected data on physical activity and lung cancer incidence in large cohorts in North America and Asia. Working in a collaborative network we will address the questions of whether physical activity can prevent lung cancer among never smoking lung cancer cases.
As part of this project the team has also assembled a pooled sample of nested case-control studies with stored biological specimens to be able to examine potential biological mechanisms operating in this association.
